COVID-19 Operational Safety Protocol

During the COVID-19 epidemic, Best Pizza & Dive Bar is choosing to operate at limited capacity, offering only delivery and takeout services. Our restaurant is working hard to follow a strict regiment of safety protocols in order to protect our customers, staff, and management.

Personal Hygiene:

  • Keep a safe distance (6-10 feet) from other people (including other team members and customers at all times) both during and outside of service.

  • All team members wear gloves during service periods at all times and replace every 30 minutes.

  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds every 30 minutes during service periods.

  • Wash hands often when not in service.

  • Avoid touching face entirely.

  • If one must touch his/her face, wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds immediately after doing so.

  • Clean and disinfect surfaces every 30 minutes during service periods with an alcohol based solution (60-95% alcohol).

Logistics (back of house):

  • One person (the pizza-man) will be permitted in the main kitchen at all times. All prep, dishwashing, and pizza-man communication will occur from a safe distance in the west corridor kitchen (and in the dish pit area for dishwashing).

  • The delivery driver will avoid close contact with the prep area.

  • When order is complete, pizza will go on top of the oven to stay warm and salads will go in low-boy to stay cold. When order is ready, delivery-driver or expediter will pack up food in a delivery bag to be sent out. For pick-up orders, the counter person will retrieve food to hand to the customer carefully through the courtyard window. No direct contact between employee and customer will occur, especially since no money is being handled. We will create safety provisions around the window handoff to prevent direct contact and ensure proper distancing.

Logistics (front of house):

  • Pickup orders will be transferred at a distance (see above). We will avoid our staff directly handing product to customers.

  • Orders will have names written on them or printed paper taped on pizza box.

  • If an elderly or disabled customer requests curbside pickup, the counter person will bring food out carefully, wearing gloves and mask and avoid all physical contact (ideally placing food in car trunk directly).

  • Signage clearly placed in the parking lot and on the front stairs will direct customers to the pickup order area and remind them to keep a safe distance from one another and from our team.

Logistics (deliveries):

  • Delivery driver will receive notice of delivery order from prep/pickup manager and receive food through the pickup window.

  • Delivery driver will call the customer from the car and notify the customer he/she will leave food at the door.
